Mġarr Harbour – History & Tips
Mġarr Harbour is the main port of Gozo and the island’s lively arrival point. For centuries, it has been the link between Gozo and Malta, serving fishermen, traders, and travelers. The modern harbour grew significantly in the 20th century, especially with the introduction of the Gozo Channel ferries, which still connect thousands of visitors daily. Overlooking the harbour is the striking Church of Our Lady of Lourdes, a landmark built in the late 19th century that welcomes everyone arriving by sea. Today, Mġarr is both a transport hub and a scenic spot, with fishing boats, cafes, and restaurants creating a warm island atmosphere.
