Għorgħun Beach is a small and peaceful rocky cove hidden just beyond the breakwater of Mġarr Harbour. Although it lies only a short distance from Gozo’s busy ferry terminal, the beach feels surprisingly secluded, offering clear blue water, natural limestone rocks and open views towards Comino and Malta.

Unlike Gozo’s larger sandy beaches, Għorgħun is a simple, unspoilt swimming spot with a rugged shoreline and large rocks scattered around the water. Its clear seabed makes it particularly enjoyable for swimming and snorkelling, while the passing ferries and boats add interest to the coastal view. It is a lovely place for visitors seeking a quiet dip close to Mġarr without travelling far across the island.

✨ Tourist Tips:

🤿 Snorkelling: The clear water and rocky seabed make Għorgħun a good place to explore with a mask and snorkel.

👟 Wear Suitable Shoes: The shoreline is rocky and uneven, so water shoes or sturdy footwear are recommended.

🎒 Bring What You Need: This is a natural swimming spot without the facilities normally found at larger beaches. Bring drinking water, sun protection and anything else you may need.

🌊 Check the Sea Conditions: The cove is exposed to the open sea, so avoid swimming when the water is rough or when strong winds create difficult conditions.

📸 Scenic Views: From the shore, you can enjoy views towards Comino and Malta and watch ferries travelling in and out of Mġarr Harbour.

🚯 Keep It Beautiful: Għorgħun’s charm comes from its quiet and natural setting. Please take all rubbish with you and leave the area as you found it.
